Bail Requests of PTI Chief Imran Khan Rejected in Three Cases

Judge Abul Hassan in Anti-Terrorism Court has issued a reserved decision

ISLAMABAD: Today, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad declined the bail requests of Imran Khan, the leader of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), who is currently in custody due to charges linked to the sale of state presents. This decision was made in three cases due to his absence from the court proceedings.

Judge Abul Hassan, presiding over the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad, has announced the reserved decision on three cases and rejected bail petitions from Khan, who failed to attend the court hearing.

Previously, a separate Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore denied bail applications made by the PTI leader for seven cases linked to the May incidents, attributing the rejection to his non-appearance.

Khan’s apprehension on May 9, concerning a corruption allegation, sparked widespread violent demonstrations throughout the nation. Amid these protests, governmental structures and military sites became the focus of attacks. The administration has laid blame on the PTI leader for orchestrating these violent acts.

Authorities arrested PTI Chairman Khan at Lahore home on August 5 after the court disqualified him and he received a three-year jail term in the Toshakhana criminal case

The district and sessions court in Islamabad imposed the prison sentence following Khan’s conviction for participating in ‘corrupt practices.’
