Born on April 5, 1957, in Karachi, Pakistan, Justice Maqbool Baqar is a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He obtained his LLB degree from the University of Karachi in 1979.
Commencing his legal career as an advocate in the Sindh High Court in 1981, he rose to become an Additional Judge of the High Court on August 26, 2002. Serving as a judge on the Sindh High Court from 2002 to 2015, he garnered an extensive experience.
His career trajectory reached a milestone on February 17, 2015, when he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Justice Baqar has written significant judgments, including the pivotal ruling in the Asif Zardari vs National Accountability Bureau case. This ruling asserted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had surpassed its investigative authority in probing former President Asif Zardari.
Furthermore, Justice Baqar composed the dissenting opinion in the Justice Qazi Faez Isa vs Federation of Pakistan case. In this opinion, he contended that political motives influence the presidential reference against Justice Isa.
Governor Sindh Approves Appointment Of Maqbool Baqar As Caretaker Chief Minister Of Sindh
Governor Sindh gave approval on the recommendation of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the opposition leader Ansar Rana.
Both leaders recommended the name of Baqar to the Governor of Sindh for his appointment as the caretaker chief minister of Sindh province.
Earlier, on August 12th, 13th, and 14th, a consultative process occurred between the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Opposition Leader under Article 224(1A).
