Raja Riaz reveals details about how Anwar ul Haq Kakar was selected as the caretaker Prime Minister

ISLAMABAD: Raja Riaz, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, has disclosed that he proposed Anwar ul Haq Kakar’s name for the position of caretaker Prime Minister, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accepted the proposal without any disagreement.

Riaz shared that he had suggested Anwar ul Haq’s name to Shehbaz Sharif two days prior during their first meeting. They both agreed not to reveal any names until a final decision was reached. In that initial meeting, Shehbaz Sharif asked Riaz about the top name on the opposition’s list. Riaz responded that it was Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Shehbaz Sharif accepted the suggestion without any objections.

Riaz further explained that during the conversation, he highlighted Kakar’s background as being from Balochistan and described him as a good person. He then requested that Shehbaz Sharif nominate Kakar for the role of caretaker Prime Minister, which Shehbaz accepted.

Riaz mentioned that the idea of selecting a caretaker Prime Minister from a smaller province was in his mind when they entered the discussion. This led to the eventual choice of Anwaarul Haq Kakar for the position.

Raja Claims Qureshi Was Released From Prison To Achieve The ‘Minus Imran’ Agenda

Raja Riaz also claimed that Qureshi was released from prison after agreeing to work against party chief, Imran Khan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi was among the PTI leaders who were arrested following riots on May 9. Several prominent PTI leaders, including Fawad Chaudhry, Aamir Mehmood Kiyani, Ali Zaidi, and Pervez Khattak, distanced themselves from Imran Khan and the party leadership due to the violent protests that ensued, resulting in attacks on defense and public installations in various parts of the country.

Riaz challenged Qureshi’s statement that he had not proposed the name of the caretaker prime minister. He raised doubts about the circumstances surrounding Qureshi’s release from jail and his subsequent capacity to hold press conferences. This was in contrast to other PTI leaders who are either in hiding or incarcerated. Riaz suggested that Qureshi may have agreed to work against Imran Khan and undermine his position within the party.
