ISLAMABAD: Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori dissolved the Sindh Assembly on Friday by signing the summary forwarded by outgoing Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Earlier, Shah endorsed the summary for the Sindh Assembly’s dissolution and proceeded to the Governor House with the document. He met Tessori and submitted the dissolution summary, which was then signed by the Governor, officially concluding the PPP’s government in Sindh.
Subsequently, the leader of the house in the provincial assembly and the leader of the opposition are expected to engage in consultations regarding the formation of the caretaker setup in the province.
Addressing the farewell session of the provincial assembly, Sindh’s CM expressed his intention to request the governor of Sindh for the assembly’s dissolution on that very Friday.
He criticizes the former federal government of PTI, highlighting that the Sindh assembly and provincial government were hindered from functioning, and the assembly’s speaker was incarcerated.
He highlights the historical significance of the Sindh assembly, noting the record legislations and accomplishments achieved within its chambers.
It is noteworthy that President Arif Alvi, on the advice of outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved the summary for dissolving the National Assembly at midnight on August 9, thereby marking the end of the current government’s tenure.
