Process has been halted until formation of caretaker government
ISLAMABAD: Today, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a ban on all federal-level appointments and transfers, as conveyed in a letter addressed to the secretary of the Establishment Division.
The letter announced the ban due to the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) and federal cabinet. It explicitly directed the suspension of all types of appointments and transfers until a caretaker setup is in place.
The letter also brought to the election commission’s attention the potential plans for appointments and transfers within ministries and divisions. As a result, it strictly forbade any such actions until the caretaker government is formed.
The letter specified that once the caretaker government is established, appointments and transfers can proceed in accordance with the law.
