During the execution of a search warrant in Provo, Utah, the FBI fatally shot and killed a man, Craig Deleeuw Robertson, who had issued online threats against President Joe Biden.
Craig Deleeuw Robertson, the suspect, had targeted prominent politicians and public figures, including President Biden and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, with his alleged threats.
The fatal encounter took place on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, around 6:15 am, as special agents attempted to serve arrest and search warrants at Robertson’s residence. In the confrontation that followed, the suspect engaged in a gunfight with the agents, resulting in his death. Notably, no agents sustained injuries during the operation.
However, the threat linked to Craig Deleeuw Robertson involved accusations of his association with George Soros and plotting an assassination in a parking garage. An investigation had revealed detailed plans and intentions, raising concerns among authorities about the potential threat posed by Robertson.
In the early morning of Wednesday, President Biden received a briefing about the FBI raid. The White House directed all inquiries to the Justice Department. Interestingly, Biden had plans to be in Utah on the same day for a public event focuses on veterans’ health care.
Additionally, charging documents brought to light Robertson’s disturbing online posts, in which he mentioned Biden’s visit to Utah and discussed his preparations involving camouflage and a sniper rifle.
The explicit intent of Robertson’s online threats, especially the one targeting Biden, had triggered alarms and prompted swift action by the FBI. A criminal complaint detailing his menacing posts. Which was accompanied by images of Robertson with a long-range rifle and wearing a Ghillie suit (a type of camouflage), was filed in the US District Court in Utah.
