Former federal minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has denied the allegations surrounding a video that surfaced on social media showing her apparently mistreating and abusing domestic staff members. The video shows Awan yelling at a woman and a man who appear to be house helpers.
Awan, who is now the spokesperson of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, refuted the claims in the video. She stated that it is not as it appears. She clarified that the video is old and not related to any abuse but rather involved a matter of theft. According to Awan, she was called to mediate over the theft at someone else’s house where the video was filmed.
The former minister accused a “criminal gang” of working at people’s houses. They attempted to blackmail her by circulating the video. She stated that she will file a complaint with the cybercrime cell against whoever uploaded the video. Furthermore, she also demanded an investigation into the matter.
Awan maintained her innocence, challenging those criticizing her to prove that the woman in the video was her house help and asking for evidence of her mistreating or torturing anyone. She dismissed the video as a baseless attempt to defame her and create drama against her.
