ISLAMABAD: In a recent cybercrime operation, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) successfully arrested a foreign national involved in committing fraud through online loan apps.
Jian Lee Hang, the suspect, has been apprehended from Lahore’s Gulberg area on charges of being the ‘leader’ of a group involved in online loan app fraud in Pakistan.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has labeled Jian Lee Yang as the ‘mastermind’ behind this fraudulent scheme. During the investigation, the accused confessed to defrauding hundreds of Pakistanis.
According to FIA officials, the accused operated in Pakistan for a duration of 10 months, during which time he employed several Pakistani nationals to carry out fraudulent activities.
Moreover, the accused resorted to blackmailing citizens by gaining unauthorized access to their personal data, as per the FIA’s statement.
It is evident that the accused ran a sophisticated operation, using local help and exploiting citizens’ sensitive information for fraudulent purposes.
