ISLAMABAD: China’s Vice Premier, He Lifeng, arrived in Pakistan on Sunday evening for a visit that will last from July 30 to August 1, 2023. The purpose of the visit is to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This visit is part of the routine high-level exchanges and dialogue between the two nations, highlighting the importance both Pakistan and China place on their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.”
He Lifeng holds the position of a Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and has been a significant figure in China’s international economic relations and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. CPEC, being a flagship project, has been a central focus of his role.
As the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission from 2017 to 2023, He Lifeng has played a crucial role in planning and executing multiple CPEC projects in Pakistan, thus strengthening the economic ties between the two countries.
During his visit, He Lifeng will have the opportunity to meet with President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also be the chief guest at an event celebrating the “Decade of CPEC,” marking ten years since the initiation of the project.
Schools And Colleges In Islamabad To Remain Closed For Two Days
Earlier, the district administration of Islamabad has declared a two-day closure of schools, colleges, and offices on July 31 and August 1 (Monday and Tuesday). The holiday in Islamabad is scheduled due to the visit of Chinese vice prime minister He Lifeng.

District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon announced the closure of all public and private schools, colleges, and universities. Furthermore, the notification stated that all private entities, companies, markets/shops, and commercial banks will remain closed during the visit of Vice Premier He Lifeng of China.
