173 People Killed in Countrywide Accidents Due to Monsoon Rains Since June 25

ISLAMABAD: In the last four days, the recent monsoon rains in different parts of the country have resulted in 173 fatalities in various accidents, as reported by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The highest number of deaths, totaling 67, occurred in Punjab, followed by 47 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10 in Balochistan, 21 in Sindh, 12 in Azad Kashmir, and five in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Additionally, 260 people were injured nationwide due to the heavy rains, with 158 of them in Punjab.

The NDMA report also indicated that a total of 1,485 houses were damaged, and 475 cattle were washed away in the recent rains and floods. The victims included 32 women and 72 children, while the injured comprised 110 men, 76 women, and 74 children.

Rainfall in Pindi Bhattian and Silakot, with reduced temperatures and inundated low-lying areas.

Forecast predicts more rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Heavy downpour in various districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, closing link roads and disrupting power supply.

Karachi experiences light to heavy rain in different parts, with the possibility of drizzle and light rain in the forecast.

Today’s minimum temperature in Karachi is 28 degrees Celsius, with the maximum expected to be 30 to 32 degrees.
