ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to the wife of a civil judge in the case of the tortured maid in Sargodha.
Justice Farooq Haider heard the protective bail plea and extended protection to the accused until August 1.
It is important to note that a case has been registered against the wife of a civil judge at the Islamabad police station.
The incident involves a 14-year-old maid. Who was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by the wife of a civil judge named Asim Hafeez. Who is deputed at the Federal Judicial Academy in Sargodha. The maid, Rizwana, was blamed for stealing gold jewelry, leading to the alleged abuse.
The girl’s parents lodged a case at a local police station. She said that she had been working as a servant at the civil judge’s house in Islamabad for six months and was subjected to severe torture by the judge’s wife. They further stated that the owners did not pay her any salary.
Upon examination, more than 15 torture marks were found on the girl’s face and body. The severely injured maid was immediately taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for medical assistance. The doctors at the DHQ Hospital referred her to the Lahore Hospital for further treatment. The police mentioned that the torture case would be lodged at a police station in Islamabad.
