Prime Minister Vows to Uplift Balochistan and Inaugurates Multiple Development Projects

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the coalition government has initiated various development projects, including a clean water project in Gwadar, Baluchistan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed that the coalition government had delayed the clean water project in Gwadar for a long time.

While speaking to reporters during a media talk in Gwadar, he mentioned that the Gwadar port had last been cleaned in 2015, resulting in a decrease in water level and hindering the arrival of large ships.

The Prime Minister asserted that his government has now taken swift action to address this issue, and the work on the Gwadar Airport is progressing rapidly. He confidently stated that the project would be completed by February or March.

Expressing regret over the past four years’ cargo inflow of merely one lakh tonnes, he highlighted that this figure was significantly below the Gwadar port’s potential. However, in the 15 months since his government assumed power, they managed to bring in 6 lakh tons of cargo, which greatly benefited the people of Balochistan.

Upon arrival in Gwadar, Governor Balochistan Abdul Wali Kakar welcomed the Prime Minister.

He criticized the neglect of the export zones that were supposed to be built in Gwadar.

Moreover, the premier pointed out that there was an impression that the Gwadar project only favored a particular class and had nothing to do with the people.

He informed reporters in Balochistan that cheques of 250,000 were distributed to fishermen in Gwadar.

Regarding the laptop scheme, he mentioned that it was launched by Nawaz Sharif, but the previous government kept focusing on eggs rather than laptops.

The PM clarifies that laptops are now being given purely on merit, and Balochistan’s quota for laptops has been increased from 14 percent to 18 percent.
