The FIA notice states that if Imran Khan does not appear before the JIT, it will presume that he has nothing to defend himself.
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Imran Khan to appear before the JIT investigating the cipher issue in his personal capacity.
He must present himself on 1st August at 12 noon.
The FIA instructed Imran Khan to bring all the documents related to the cipher and warned him of unilateral action for non-appearance before the FIA.
Earlier, Imran Khan appeared before the FIA’s joint inquiry team in the cypher and audio leaks case and answered questions for over two hours.
“It will be presumed that you have nothing to defend yourself before the JIT,” the FIA notice stated.
The team asked him various questions about the cypher and statements of his former principal secretary, Azam Khan, as well as the investigation from Asad Umar and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Imran Khan responded that minutes of both meetings of the National Security Committee on the cypher are available.
The JIT intends to continue further investigation based on the statements related to the cypher.
Due to Imran’s expected appearance at the FIA headquarters in the cypher and audio leaks case, the Islamabad police took security measures.
The FIA’s Quick Response Team remained on alert outside the headquarters.The FIA summoned Imran Khan at noon.
The Islamabad High Court has reserved its decision on Imran Khan’s petition against the FIA’s summons on the cypher issue after hearing the lawyer’s arguments.
Imran Khan’s counsel, Latif Khosa, told the court that the FIA initiated the inquiry into the cypher issue based on the cabinet’s directives.

Meanwhile, a show-cause notice issued to the three officers for transferring the PTI president to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail without permission and fined them Rs50,000 each by the court.
The court instructed the Punjab accountant general to suspend the salaries of the three officers.
The court was handling the money laundering case against Elah. The police failed to present him in court despite orders. Therefore, the court issued orders for not presenting the former chief minister and demanded his presence at the next hearing.
