ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif proudly announced that the incumbent government has passed Pakistan’s National Adaptation Plan, equipping the country with essential tools to adapt to the risks posed by climate stress.
He emphasized that climate change is impacting every aspect of human life, particularly in Pakistan.
In his official Twitter statement, the prime minister highlighted the devastating floods of the previous year as a clear example of how climate change affects various aspects of society, including development, economy, human lives, and national security. He stressed the importance of investing in climate adaptation to enhance the country’s capacity to effectively cope with these challenges.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman, her team, and other stakeholders for their excellent work on the project.
He also chaired the third meeting of the International Partners Support Group to assess the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the flood-affected areas of Pakistan.
During the meeting, he reiterated the coalition government’s unwavering commitment to building back better under the 4RF Framework (Resilient Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction).
He expressed appreciation to all international development donors, partners, and friendly countries for their timely and generous assistance, assuring them of transparent and efficient utilization of foreign aid, audited by a reputable third party.
Additionally, the prime minister thanked the UNDP for its excellent coordination and collaboration between the government of Pakistan and the international community.
