ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has made the decision to authorize the deployment of the army across the entire country during the period of Muharram.
According to a notification issued, this deployment has been sanctioned under Article 245.
In response to the requests from all four provinces and at their behest, the Interior Ministry has also sent letters to the governments of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, extending the army’s deployment to these regions as well.
The primary objective of this deployment is to ensure peace and order during the observance of Muharram.
The Punjab Home Department enforced Section 144 during the initial 10 days of Muharram to uphold law and order.
Additionally, in order to ensure public safety, the Pakistan Army was called upon and an official notification was issued. The notification outlined various other restrictions aimed at maintaining security during religious practices.
These restrictions encompassed the prohibition of processions, gatherings, and any activities that could potentially disturb public order.
