Makkah hotel fire kills 8 Pakistani Umrah Pilgrims:
The Foreign Office (FO) reported on Saturday that eight Pakistanis died and six injured in a fire incident at a hotel in Makkah City, Saudi Arabia.
The FO stated in a statement today that “We have reports of eight deaths and six injured Pakistanis in an unfortunate fire incident at a hotel in Makkah.“
In addition, the FO stated that “Our Mission in Jeddah is actively contacting local authorities to provide relief to the victims and their families.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound sadness and grief at the deaths of the Pakistani pilgrims, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.
The report also stated that the premier sent his regrets and sympathies to the families of the deceased.
PM Shehbaz instructed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure the injured receive the best available medical care and to support the families of the deceased, as reported by Radio Pakistan.
In addition, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori extended his condolences and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families during this time of sorrow.
A fire incident at a new high-speed train station in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in September 2019, resulted in injuries to five individuals.
A hospital fire in the country’s south in December 2015 resulted in at least 25 fatalities and 107 injuries.
In addition, a residential complex housing staff members of the oil company Saudi Aramco caught fire in August of that same year, killing at least 11 people and injuring 219 more.
