GB CM Khursheed’s Equivalence Letter Revoked for ‘Fake’ Degree:
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has withdrawn an equivalence letter to Khalid Khursheed, a politician from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) serving as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). However, they later rescinded the letter after discovering that his LLB degree is “fake.”
This development suggests that troubles are arising for Khalid Khursheed.
An HEC letter of May 12 to Khalid Khursheed states:
“This commission approached the University of London for re-verification of your LLB degree, transcript, and letter of certification provided by you in a sealed envelope to the HEC.
The university has disclosed that the envelope and its contents (a copy of the degree certificate, a letter of certification, and a transcript) were not issued by the University of London.
Therefore, the HEC equivalence letter of even number dated September 23, 2022, issued to you is hereby withdrawn or canceled.”
The letter also notes that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has blocked and blacklisted the name and CNIC of CM Khalid Khursheed on their online portal.
According to a trustworthy source with knowledge of the situation:
As a result of the HEC’s notification–
The GB CM will have no place in his office, and he will also be facing criminal charges.
University of London- CM Khursheed
The source also states that when compared to verification letters provided by the same department at the University of London during the same period for other students, significant discrepancies were discovered in the degree presented by the GB CM, including variations in paper quality, embossed stamp, font, and signature.
In his nomination documents, CM Khursheed had a fake degree from the University of London.
Also, The Higher Education Commission (HEC) officially approached the UK Government to confirm his degree.
In a formal response, the college acknowledged that the degree was “fake.”
Yasir Abbas, the GB CM’s attorney, had characterized the discussions over the degree as an attempt by opponents to undermine the PTI-led administration in Gilgit Baltistan.
He said the chief minister intended to sue people who disseminated this false information for defamation.
