UK PM Sunak regards Imran Khan’s arrest as an internal matter of Pakistan

Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, stated that Britain is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan due to the violent protests and disarray that have occurred since the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Sunak told the Law Makers:

“The arrest of the former prime minister is an internal matter for Pakistan. We support peaceful democratic processes and adherence to the rule of law and we are monitoring the situation carefully.”

Authorities arrested Former PM Imran Khan At the Islamabad High Court, where he had requested bail in a number of matters, including accusations of terrorism and money laundering Case.

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly underlined the need for a “peaceful democracy” with adherence to the rule of law in Pakistan during his earlier today visit to the US.

When asked about the former prime minister’s arrest, Cleverly declined to make any other comments until he had received a thorough explanation.

Four Dead in Peshawar as Violent Protests Continue; Sindh Enforces Section 144

The authorities have called in the military in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, and Islamabad to maintain the status quo of law and order as Wednesday’s violent protests by supporters of the erstwhile ruling party continued for a second day.

To control the situation, Sindh enforced Section 144 after at least four individuals killed in Peshawar.

While four bodies with bullet wounds were brought into the emergency room, 27 patients with agitation-related injuries were being treated at Lady Reading Hospital (LHR).

Rangers arrested former Prime Minister Imran Khan from outside Islamabad High Court, where he had gone to seek bail in multiple FIRs registered against him in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The law enforcement agency took him into custody from the courtroom and transported him in a black Vigo.
