Weapons recovered from Zaman Park, 61 PTI activists arrested: IG

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Lahore police today recovered weapons from the residence of Imran Khan in Zaman Park.

Police raided the Zaman Park residence of the PTI chairman when he was on his way to Islamabad to appear in the trial court in the Toshakhana case.

Inspector General of Punab Police Dr Usman Anwar said that police have recovered rifles from the Khan’s residence. He said that with the help of CCTV cameras and footage, police officials are arresting PTI workers who attacked security officials.

Addressing a press conference with Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir, IG Police also said that police have arrested 61 PTI activists who attacked police officials.

A clash also occurred between police and PTI workers at Zaman Park which led to injuries to both sides.

Over, 1,000 security personnel participated in the operation at Zaman Park.

Meanwhile, interior minister also said the police have cleared the PTI workers’ camps established on the road.

Police used cranes and trucks to remove camps set up outside Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park.

‘PDM Govt wants to arrest me’, says Khan

Earlier, Former prime minister Imran Khan said that the federal government wants to arrest him.

Khan said this in his Twitter message just before appearing in the trial court at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad.

“I am going to Islamabad and the court because I believe in rule of law. But ill intent of this cabal of crooks should be clear to all.”

PEMRA Bans live TV coverage

Earlier, the electronic media regulator, PEMRA slapped a ban on live TV coverage of PTI chairman Imran Khan’s appearance in the trial court on Saturday.

Khan is appearing in the trial court at Judicial Complex regarding his non-bailable arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case.

The Pemra’s order includes a ban on any procession or rally being staged today at the judicial complex in Islamabad.

The authority observed with concern that satellite TV channels are showing live footage and images of the attack, violent mob, and LEAs activities.

“Such footage/images appeared on TV channels without any editorial oversight during a recent standoff between PTI workers and LEAs officials in Lahore.”
