TTP reject IK’s Assassination Bid Claim

PESHAWAR: The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has refuted the claim made by former prime minister Imran Khan that people from South Waziristan had been tasked with killing him.

TTP argued that its war was against the security forces and intelligence agencies, not against any political personality.

The TTP stated, “We have received information that the head of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in a meeting with the party’s provincial spokespersons claimed an assassination attempt was being planned by the TTP and South Waziristan residents have been tasked with executing the task”.

The statement added that a “similar baseless claim was made by some party members 10 days ago. The outfit’s war was against security forces and intelligence agencies and not against political figures.”

However, it warned politicians of attacks if they became part of the war.

The Assassination attempt

Former prime minister Imran Khan had sustained bullet wound to his leg in a shooting spree on his container in Wazirabad on Nov 03, 2022. He was leading the ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ under his party’s banner.

One person died in the incident, while several members of the PTI chairman’s close circle, including Senator Faisal Javaid, former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Ahmad Chattha and Imran Yousaf, were injured.

IK’s Claim

Following the incident, the former leader claimed that two plans were made to murder him. He accused the PML-N-led government for hatching “Plan A and Plan B”.

He later claimed that another assassination attempt is being cooked up. He alleged PPP co-chairman for conspiring his death plot this time. The deposed prime minister termed the alleged conspiracy ‘Plan-C’ . The accused is alleged for paying money to a terrorist outfit for carrying out the execution.

However, Asif Ali Zardari served legal notice to Imran over the assassination allegations.
