25 Police Checkpoints Set Up In Islamabad As Part Of ‘Special’ Security Plan

Due to security concerns, Islamabad police issued a “special” plan on Tuesday.

It sets up 25 temporary checkpoints throughout the city and requires visitors & residents to carry their identity Cards with them.

The security strategy, which was announced on the Islamabad Police’s official Twitter account, calls for Safe City cameras to record the Red Zone’s entry points as well as video surveillance of metro bus riders.

The police urged both foreigners and residents of the capital to carry their identity Cards.

In addition, authorities issued warnings about non-specimen number plates and unregistered vehicles, advising citizens to check that their vehicles had to excise office-produced licence plates.

Additionally, landlords and employers must register both their tenants and employees at a nearby khidmat marakiz or police station as part of this strategy (facilitation centres).

According to the police, citizens who hired unregistered local or foreign workers would also be investigated.

They urged people to call the 15-helpline if they observed any unusual activity and to report it to authorities.

USA, UK, Saudi Arabia & Australia Embassies Asks Their Citizens, Staff To Avoid Visiting Public Places

After the United States and the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Australia have also advised their citizens and staff members not to visit public places in Islamabad due to possible terror attacks.

Earlier this week, In Islamabad’s I-10/4 sector, a suicide blast occurred in a suspected taxi car.

According to the initial media reports, the blast occurred as the police stopped the vehicle to search it.

Five officers were injured, and one chose martyrdom. Adeel Hussain, the police officer who was killed, has been identified.

According to police, the explosion was caused by explosives in the vehicle. A suicide attacker is suspected of carrying out the attack.

The twin cities were placed on high alert shortly after the incident. Hundreds of police officers gathered and surrounded the area.

While an emergency was declared at PIMS Hospital.

“When the police stopped the vehicle, the couple came out of the car.

The long-haired man, while being checked by the officers, went inside the vehicle on some pretext and then detonated himself,” he said in a media briefing at the crime scene alongside Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon.

Separately, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed in an interview that “two terrorists” were killed in the blast.

“The vehicle used in the blast was registered in Chakwal.

The car entered Islamabad from Rawalpindi […] it was packed with explosives and headed for a high-value target in the capital,” he said.

Sanaullah went on to say that if the car had reached its destination, it would have resulted in significant losses.
