Toshakhana case: Islamabad court announcing its verdict on Dec 15 on ECP’s plea against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad reserved its decision in Toshakhana case against Imran Khan, referred by the Election Commission of Pakistan last month.

The district and sessions court in Islamabad said that it will announce its verdict on December 15 at 2pm.

On Nov 22, the district and sessions court in Islamabad court took up for hearing the Toshakhana reference against former prime minister Imran Khan for indulging in corrupt practices.

During Monday’s hearing, ECP’s lawyer Saad Hassan appeared before the court and said that former premier Khan said he constructed a road with the money he acquired from sale of Toshakhana gifts.

He said that a prime minister has to deposit any gift they have received to the Toshakhana.

He further stated that the Toshakhana gifts could be retained after payment of 50% price of the gift.

He said, “The price of the watch was Rs85 million and Imran Khan failed to state the amount for which he sold the Toshakhana watch.

ECP lawyer further stated if any Toshakhana items were transferred then it was mandatory to mention them in the tax income statements.

He said that the Election Commission “believes the income tax statements provided by the former premier in 2022-2021 are correct”, adding that the Toshakhana matter was brought to the National Assembly and the case was taken to the high court in 2020-2021.
