A two-member inquiry committee established to look into the murder of renowned journalist and former ARY News anchor Arshad Sharif met with Kenyan CID officials.
To learn more about their position regarding the murder of a senior Pakistani journalist in Nairobi, the team met with Kenyan CID officials.
The team also went to the scene of the crime and looked over the car that the dead journalist was riding in when he was killed.
Earlier, sources claimed that Waqar and Khurram Ahmed had been questioned by the investigation team regarding the murder of Arshad Sharif. A murdered journalist was staying with the Ahmed brothers in Kenya.
Sources claim that Arshad Sharif’s hosts in Kenya, Khurram and Waqar Ahmed, described the shooting incident as a “misidentification.” Waqar Ahmed admitted to the investigation team that he hosted Arshad Sharif at the request of a friend and ruled out Salman Iqbal, president and CEO of ARY Digital Network, as the source of the request.
In self-exile, the senior journalist and former ARY News anchor was assassinated on October 23 in Nairobi, Kenya.
After Arshad Sharif’s post-mortem and return to his home country, Kenyan police initially claimed that the veteran journalist was killed in a “mistaken identity” incident. However, several Kenyan news outlets have since questioned both the police’s actions and the circumstances surrounding Sharif’s death.
