10,000 Pakistani workers’ employment is in jeopardy as a result of a private company’s delay in conducting medical examinations in time for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
According to the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association, 10,000 Pakistani workers were having trouble leaving for Qatar because their medical tests were taking longer than expected prior to the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. This was because a private company was not giving them appointments despite issuing visa numbers (POEPA).
Following the development, Pakistani laborers’ employment quotas were transferred to Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, among other nations.
Muhammad Adnan Paracha, vice president of POEPA, made an appeal to the federal government to become involved in the situation and advised that they get in touch with the Qatari government right away to hasten the process of medical examinations for Pakistanis.
Prior to the FIFA World Cup, he said that over 10,000 Pakistani laborers were waiting to travel to Qatar, but the private company was not scheduling appointments for medical exams for the citizens.
It was discovered that the private company scheduled medical appointments for January while the football tournament will take place in November, causing a shift in the job quota to other nations.
According to Paracha, there are two recognized centers for Pakistan and Qatar in Karachi and Islamabad, where 300 medical tests are carried out every day but should be increased to 700–800.
He continued by saying that although appointments were not being made, the urgent medical charge had also raised from Rs4,860 to Rs7,450.
