In anticipation of a potential protest long march or PTI sit-in calling for early elections, the red zone in the federal capital has been sealed with shipping containers.
After officials placed barbed wire and shipping containers alongside the road, access to the well-known D-Chowk was blocked overnight.
At the points of entry and exit into the federal capital, more police have been deployed.
The Islamabad police have requested 30,000 police, paratroopers, and FC force members from the provinces to handle the emergency scenario. Of these, 20,000 are requested from Punjab, 4,000 are requested from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 6,000 are requested from the Rangers and FC forces.
Punjab and KP’s provincial governments are still considering their options for responding to Islamabad’s request.
In order to keep PTI supporters from entering Islamabad, the city administration plans to construct trenches as well as to set up hundreds of containers at the exits. The fourth PTI protest sit-in, according to the Islamabad police.
An excess of teargas shells and drones to launch them have reportedly been ordered, according to sources.
Islamabad has already received at least 3,000 FC troops.
According to a statement released by the Islamabad police, “certain persons from Punjab have traveled to the federal capital to obtain their political objectives.”
The official stated that additional security has been added around the red zone to prepare for any unforeseen incidents.
Islamabad has implemented Section 144, according to the report, and those who violate it would face legal repercussions.
Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, had instructed the party officials from the KP early this month to begin making arrangements for a protracted march in Islamabad. The decision to travel to the federal capital has been made, thus he also urged the party members to hold off until they received the call from Islamabad.
