On Friday, the former headquarters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), known as Nine Zero, caught fire in Karachi.
Two fire trucks were able to put out the blaze, though. Investigators concluded that a short circuit was likely to blame for the blaze.
A Rangers representative verified that the fire was controlled and the process of cooling was in place. Also, he added, the house was sealed off. There were no recorded casualties. A Rangers employee, however, was hurt while trying to put out the blaze.
Blasts were also reportedly heard during the fire and the bomb disposal squad had been contacted to ascertain the cause of these explosions.
The cops ordered witnesses to refrain from recording any part of the incident.
Some say that the house was abandoned. This residence in the Azizabad neighborhood of Karachi was once utilized by the MQM.
In 2016, party activists destroyed a private television station before battling with police, leaving at least one person dead and more than half a dozen injured. This led to a search and subsequent sealing of the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero.
