PTI leader ‘Haleem Adil Sheikh’ released from Karachi Central Jail

Haleem Adil Sheikh, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, has been released from Karachi Central Jail.

Sheikh, who is also the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, and 10 other people were arrested by the Anti-Encroachment Force (AEF) on suspicion of trespassing on 25 acres of public land in Scheme 33.

A few minutes after being released on bail in a terrorism case on August 29, he was detained in the case outside the Karachi central prison.

The judge granted him bail after hearing arguments from both the defence and the prosecution, but only after an Rs. 100,000 surety bond was presented. If he wasn’t needed in any other case, he directed the jail staff to release the suspect right away. He must show up in court on September 19 for the subsequent hearing.

Sheikh was greeted by PTI workers and supporters outside the jail.

The PTI workers and supporters, including Sheikh himself, immediately began chanting phrases in support of the party’s chief Imran Khan as soon as he left.
