Kashmir Media Service reported on Wednesday that a mosque that had been buried for three decades beneath the water of Phulwaria Dam in the Nawada district of the Indian state of Bihar had risen to the surface due to the effects of drought.
Once hidden beneath the water, a mosque in Chiraila, a community in the Rajauli block, is now visible due to the receding waters of the reservoir’s southern end.
The Noori Masjid Mosque, which became drowned during the construction of the Phulwaria Dam in 1985, is fondly remembered by locals.
About 30 feet of that height is taken up by the mosque’s upper dome.
Many young people, the story claims, flocked to the area to get a glimpse of the mosque after hearing about its construction.
They were surprised to find a mosque in a part of the reservoir that used to hold water.
A lot of young people could be seen making their way through the mud and slush to the top of the old mosque.
People were able to get into the mosque, and everyone was happy to see that it was in great shape.
Even though this part of the mosque has been underwater for decades, there isn’t a single sign of damage.
This is without a doubt the most interesting thing about it.
When the water level was lower in the past, only a small part of the mosque’s dome could be seen, which left many people confused.
When the ground is dry, they will be able to relax when they see the mosque out in the open.
This mosque, which is now underwater because of the Phulwaria Dam, was built in the 1970s, a long time before the dam was built.
Even after the dam was finished, nothing was done to the mosque.
The whole area, including the mosque, was flooded by the dam’s reservoir.
Some say that this mosque is about 120 years old, which puts it firmly in the early 1900s.
This decision is based on the dome of the mosque, which is a step up from the domes built by the last Mughal emperors.
