While examining the Florida estate of former United States President Donald Trump, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reportedly obtained sensitive information concerning a foreign country’s nuclear capabilities and military defences on Tuesday, as reported by The Washington Post.
The newspaper asserts that some of the documents that were discovered at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate are so top secret that only the president and cabinet or near-cabinet level officials would be authorized to allow access to other federal authorities. This is one of the claims that the newspaper makes.

There were 184 documents in Trump’s 15 boxes labeled confidential, secret, or top secret.
On August 8, the FBI searched for President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
The Washington Post claimed on Tuesday that one of the classified documents obtained by the FBI at the Florida property of former US president Donald Trump detailed the nuclear capabilities and military defenses of a foreign nation.
The newspaper quoted unnamed sources saying that certain documents uncovered in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence were so highly classified that only the president and cabinet or near-cabinet level officials would be authorized to grant other government officials access to them.
The memo referred to the defense and nuclear capabilities of a specific country without identifying that country.
The Post claims that a generic top-secret clearance is insufficient for access to certain files, and that instead, a need-to-know basis clearance is required.
No information was provided on the location or level of protection afforded to the highly sensitive documents within the property, which doubles as a private members club.
The Justice Department’s claim that Trump “likely withheld” top-secret documents to thwart an FBI investigation into Trump’s possible mishandling of classified data is just the latest example of the rising legal strain Trump is under.
Documents so sensitive that “even the FBI counterintelligence personnel and DOJ attorneys conducting the review required additional clearances before they were permitted to review certain documents,” according to a government court filing, were discovered during the August 8 search of the Mar-a-Lago resort.
After months of back-and-forth with the National Archives and Records Administration, Trump turned up some “highly classified” documents in January, prompting the FBI raid.
The 15 boxes given over by Trump were discovered to contain 184 documents tagged as confidential, secret or top secret.
After the FBI pushed, Trump’s attorney handed over an additional 38 secret documents and “sworn certification” indicating this was the final batch of documents.
However, “several sources of information” were found by the FBI suggesting that classified materials were still present at Mar-a-Lago.
