Indian charge d’affaires has been called to Foreign Offic over killing a “mentally challenged” Pakistani person in IIOJK

On Monday, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs had an emergency meeting with the Indian charge d’affaires in Islamabad to voice a strong complaint over the “extrajudicial killing” of a “mentally challenged” Pakistani national in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir (IIOJK).

Tabarak Hussain, according to a Foreign Office (FO) press release, was taken to an Indian army hospital in Rajouri, IIOJK.

Tabarak Hussain, a mentally disabled Pakistani national, crossed the border at Naushera in Rajouri district on August 21 and was mercilessly shot by Indian security forces, according to a press release.

The Indian charge d’affaires was instructed to convey to his government Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the killing.

The “mischievous story” that Hussain was dispatched by the Pakistan Army was also relayed to the Indian charge d’affaires, as was Pakistan’s “outright rejection” of the assertion that Hussain died of a heart arrest, according to the news statement.

“He was reminded that the Indian claims held no water, as Hussain, being of impaired mental condition, had inadvertently crossed the border in 2016,” the news release continued.

The official was briefed by the FO, who noted that Pakistan’s already grave fears for the safety, security, and well-being of its other citizens in Indian custody had been further heightened by the occurrence.

A credible post-mortem report to establish the cause of death, as well as a transparent investigation to identify and punish those guilty for the death of the Pakistani prisoner, have been requested from the Indian government.

The news release also called for the “prompt and speedy repatriation of the lifeless remains of the deceased to Pakistan,” by the requests of the deceased’s family.

Also, the report said the “extrajudicial killing” of another Pakistani prisoner, Muhammad Ali Hussain, was brought to the attention of the Indian charge d’affaires.
