According to Geo News, PM Shehbaz Sharif has convened a federal cabinet meeting for today to examine the flood situation and the anti-military comments made by former PM Imran Khan.
Sources say the federal cabinet meeting will address the PTI chairman’s criticism of national institutions, most notably the Pakistan Army.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is scheduled to brief the cabinet on the current flood situation in the country at today’s cabinet meeting, as stated on the agenda released earlier.
The issue of overbooked Hajj spaces will also be reviewed by the cabinet. Proposals for reducing energy consumption would also be discussed.
Meanwhile, credible sources informed The News on Monday that the public is outraged by the speech because Imran made his comments despite the widespread destruction that the recent rains have inflicted.
It is expected that Federal Law and Justice Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarrar will update the cabinet on potential legal action against Imran, who is “out to disrupt society and disrespect national institutions,” according to the sources.
On Monday, the Pakistani Army voiced its outrage over recent comments made by PTI Chairman Imran Khan in which he criticized the military.
The PTI leader criticized the government in a Faisalabad rally, claiming that postponing the vote was done so that the current administration could pick its army chief and that a “patriotic chief of army staff comes in, he will not spare the incumbent rulers.”
