Parts of Pakistan are shaken by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake

Several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, as well as the federal capital, felt the effects of a 5.3 Richter scale earthquake late Sunday night.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swabi, Mohmand, Bajour, Buner, and the surrounding districts felt the quakes, according to local media.

People hurried out of their houses reciting passages from the Holy Quran in a state of terror, but there were no reports of casualties or damage anywhere in the country.

According to information gathered by the US Geological Survey, the earthquake’s epicenter was situated in the Koh Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
