ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial today formed a two-member bench to hear a petition against PTI chairman Imran Khan over his incendiary speeches against the state institutions.
The bench, comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi, will hear the petition on Thursday (Sept 8).
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court registrar’s office has issued notice to petitioner Qausain Ali, who has identified himself as a concerned citizen.
The petitioner has not only sought action against the PTI chief but also urged the judiciary to hold accountable PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Shireen Mazari.
Importantly, PTI chairman Imran Khan is already facing two different cases against him _ terrorism case for threatening judge Zeba Chaudhary and top police officials in Islamabad and contempt of court proceedings in Islamabad High Court.
On Aug 31, Khan appeared in the Islamabad High Court and the IHC chief justice gave him one week deadline to file his reply afresh in response to a show-cause notice of the court.
Also, Imran Khan has obtained pre-arrest bail twice from the anti-terrorism court in Islamabad.
