Six police officers in Hyderabad have been fired from their jobs for failing to intervene in a hotel fight that took place in Nasim Nagar on July 12 and resulted in the death of Bilal Kaka and violent nationalist demonstrations.
The SSP Amjad Ahmed Sheikh stated in separate orders of dismissal from service that the action had been taken following appropriate process, including the issuance of show-cause notices and an investigation by a committee of authorities.
In the wake of the incident on July 12 at the Super Salateen hotel near a gas station, he claimed that all the police officers had already been suspended. A case was filed in the Bhitai Nagar police station under Sections 392, 324, 147, 148, 149, 337-H (ii), and 109 PPC following the event that resulted in Kaka’s death and the injuries of four of his friends.
The SSP noted that the police officers were in uniform and on duty because they could be seen in the viral footage of the crime scene. Instead of stepping in to stop the crooks, they just stood by aimlessly. The policemen were seen by the public as they watched as “coward spectators,” he claimed.
He claimed that if the policeman had not behaved so cowardly, Kaka’s life might have been saved. The report from the investigation committee, which was led by SP headquarters’ Anil Haider and included ASP Hasnain Waris, SDPO Market Rasool Bux Siyal, and SDPO Qasimabad Makhdoom Ghulam Mustafa, was delivered to him on July 21. It noted the absence of head constable Israr Ahmed and constable Ashok Kumar from the crime scene.
The SSP, however, disputed the committee’s conclusions and asserted that because the allegations brought against them were serious, they were all discharged from the service.
According to the SSP, disciplinary actions against two SHOs, Farhan Memon of PS Nasim Nagar and Ziyad Noonari of Bhitai Nagar, ASI Manzoor Babar, and others, would be taken after a separate investigation.
On July 12, a Saeedabad, Matiari man named Bilal Kaka was murdered over a minor dispute involving the hotel owner and his son. Afzal Khan and Shah Sawar Khan are two of the four suspects the police have detained thus far. The murder of Kaka stoked racial animosity between Sindh and Pathan communities and resulted in violent episodes throughout the province.
