Hydropower generates 4,662MW and government thermal plants produce 1,060MW.
Due to supply and demand, various sections of the nation are experiencing 8-hour load-shedding. Load-shedding lasts 12 hours in regions with substantial line losses.
Since coming to office, the current government has battled power disruptions. While Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif committed to addressing the crisis, no respite is in sight.
