Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson firmly rejected the idea of a Pakistani delegation visiting Israel on Sunday.
In response to questions from the media, he said that a non-Pakistan-based NGO planned the alleged visit.
When it comes to the Palestinian problem, Pakistan’s stance is clear and unequivocal.
“Our stance has not changed in any way, and this has been agreed upon by everyone in the country,” said Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson.
Pakistan firmly backs Palestine’s right to self-determination
“Al-Quds Al-Sharif should serve as the capital of an independent, viable, contiguous Palestinian state with pre-1967 boundaries, in conformity with relevant UN and OIC resolutions, he said.
Earlier, Israeli President Isaac Hergoz claimed to have met a team of Pakistanis living abroad in Davos, Switzerland, during the World Economic Forum.
This past week, Herzog said he had received two delegations that showed “the remarkable transformation.”
Among them was a delegation from Morocco, made up of young Moroccan opinion-makers who have allied themselves with an Israeli Facebook organisation. “They both came and sat with us for an hour and it was simply great to listen to the experience of breaking boundaries and going ahead and interweaving with one other,” he added.
To arrange the visit of the Pakistani-American delegation, the American Muslim and Multi-faith Women’s Empowerment Council in the United States and the Israeli NGO Sharaka collaborated.
A Pakistani delegation meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres has been ruled out by Pakistan’s Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.
It comprised Pakistani-Americans, he said, who had previously identified themselves on Twitter.
Pakistan’s “government is unambiguous and does not recognise the state of Israel,” the minister said.
