MANSEHRA: Across the Mansehra district, the water table has fallen dramatically and many wells and hand pumps have run out of water.
Following the recent heatwave in the Hazara Division and the rest of the nation, the residents of Mansehra, Balakot, Oghi, Darband, and Baffa-Pakhal tehsils have been experiencing extreme water scarcity.
Mohammad Ajmal, a resident of Mansehra, lamented that the tehsil municipal government had failed to implement a new water supply network in the area for the previous two decades.
Most of the hand pumps and wells had dried up, he claimed, further exacerbating an already dire situation.
The amount of water in local springs has decreased since the start of the summer.
Many others were spotted carrying cans and jars with them as they fetched water from hand pumps and wells in surrounding homes.
Mohammad Bashir Tanoli reported that the water table has dropped dramatically and that one can now acquire water by burying a hand pump up to 400 feet.
Water supply projects initiated in 2016 by an ex-PML-N MNA have not yet been finished to serve the city and its surrounding suburbs, he claimed.

He urged students at the recent 11th convocation of Hazara University to pursue a degree in science or technology to help the country prosper. He claimed that the industrial revolution might also be achieved in this manner.
According to the vice-chancellor Dr Jamil Ahmad, HU is one of the best universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the best in Pakistan because of its emphasis on research.
