On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal directed all administrative authorities in the state to negotiate lower pricing for vital goods such as sugar, ghee, wheat mills, and poultry groups.
He also directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to implement a one-dish menu, monitor urea rates, and combat wheat smuggling.
While presiding over a video-link meeting of all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, the CS communicated the priorities to the administrative officials.
The action was made at the request of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz in order to offer assistance to the people and reduce the prices of vital items.
Mr Afzal stated authorities must do their jobs dynamically in order to limit inflation and maintain price stability.
He promised harsh punishment for offenders of the one-dish rule and marriage ceremony time.
The chief secretary also directed the DCs to continue monitoring urea fertiliser costs and availability, as well as to take actions to combat smuggling.
Later, the DCs gave reports on actions taken to prevent urea and wheat smuggling, imposing one dish in wedding ceremonies, and pricing control of everyday-use commodities.
