ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the Interior Ministry on Thursday to protect the former prime minister Imran Khan’s safety at all times.
In light of concerns that his predecessor’s life was in danger, the PM issued the orders.
The Interior Ministry informed the secretaries of the four provinces’ Home Departments, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, of the PM’s directions, requesting that they take tight security measures to protect Imran Khan.
Inspector general of police and chief commissioner of Islamabad were given the same order.
PM Shehbaz also instructed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to keep a close eye on the situation and ensure that the directions were carried out.
After receiving instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the interior ministry sent a letter to the Bani Gala residence stating that a bomb disposal team should be stationed outside.
The authorities in charge were told that no lapses in security would be tolerated, especially at public events and rallies attended by Imran Khan.
