People setting fire to Hazara Forests will face punishment

As soon as he learned of forest fires in the upper parts of the Hazara division, the official added, his department took immediate action.

MANSEHRA: Deputy Chief Conservator Farrukh Bashir has ordered the divisional forest officials to clamp down on those who set fire to woods in the upper parts of the Hazara division.

He told reporters in Balakot on Tuesday that the forest department has been working with the tehsil’s assistant commissioner to combat the area’s regular fires, which harm the forest’s fauna and contaminate the environment.

As soon as he learned of forest fires in the upper parts of the Hazara division, the official added, his department took immediate action.

For the agency to take action against individuals responsible for setting woodlands ablaze, he urged citizens to come forward and identify them.

Residents are urged to come forward with information on the culprits. Identities will be kept hidden, as per Mr Bashir. His government also requested help from all tehsils in reducing forest fires.

Tuesday, the establishment department moved many BPS-18 officials in the Hazara division to new positions.

Besides Nazima Shaheen, the establishment department was informed that it should send Maqbool Hussain, the assistant deputy commissioner general (budget and planning) in Mansehra, for further posting.

Lower Dir ADC Jan Mohammad has been promoted to Buner ADC (F&P), while higher education deputy secretary Mohammad Jawad Sardar has been promoted to Mansehra ADC, replacing Buner ADC (F&P) Fayyaz Mohammad (F&P).

Higher education’s deputy secretary, Lower Dir ADC (general) Khursheed Alam, was promoted to the position in place of the previous deputy secretary who resigned.

Mansehra ADC (general) Shahab Mohammad Khan was promoted to additional secretary in the sports department, while Babar Khan Tanoli was promoted to deputy director of the directorate of projects (planning and development of merging regions).

Jibrrel Raza, the department’s deputy secretary, will serve as Abbottabad’s ADC (general).

More than a dozen vendors in Balakot Tehsil were penalised Tuesday for selling basic products at rates that exceeded those set by the price control and review committee.

Saddam Hussain, assistant commissioner of the tehsil administration, conducted a surprise visit to Balakot and Garhi Habibullah bazaars, where he inspected the pricing and quality of the items being offered.
