Shehbaz Sharif, citing the National Assembly deputy speaker’s decision and the PM’s assertion regarding the NSC minutes related to a “foreign plot,” urged on Tuesday that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Inter-Services Intelligence DG Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum produce proof showing former opposition leaders are “traitors.”
“We don’t want free and fair elections….we demanded this for so long and wanted to dismiss the prime legitimately and democratically,” he said outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad.
The National Security Committee examined the “threatening letter” with COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ISI Lt. Gen Nadeem Anjum. The committee determined Pakistan will make a robust demarche to the nation in question both in Islamabad and in its capital through diplomatic channels.
The PML-N president made the requests after Prime Minister Imran Khan alleged that the previous opposition did not realise that the National Security Council specifically stated that a foreign power interfered in this no-confidence vote.
In the minutes of the NSC meeting, the PM indicated the no-confidence vote was a foreign ploy to intervene in Pakistani domestic affairs.
