Rashid hopes MQM-P would also back PTI after PML-Q

The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan will be voted on Sunday, April 3, according to Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, who also stated that legislators will consider the proposal when the National Assembly reconvenes on Thursday, March 31.

In an interview with the media in Islamabad, Rashid praised PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi for supporting Prime Minister Imran Khan in the no-confidence vote. In exchange for his support, the PTI has given Elahi the position of the chief minister.

“Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s comments last night… sent a very powerful message,” Rashid said, adding that he hoped the MQM-P, the PTI’s other ally who is courted by both the government and the opposition, will also vote in favour of the government on the no-trust vote.

According to allegations in the media, the PTI has promised the MQM the ports and shipping ministry and the governorship of Sindh in exchange for support.

A terrorist plot has been thwarted

The interior minister also stated that prompt action by Pakistan’s law enforcement institutions, particularly the counter-terrorism agency (CTD), prevented a serious attack on political gatherings in Islamabad.

“Four terrorists from the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, including suicide bombers, have been apprehended in connection with a planned assault on political gatherings in Islamabad,” he stated during the news conference.

A stockpile of weaponry was also seized, including 450 grammes of ball bearings, half a kilogramme of explosives, two detonators, and firearms. He continued, “One terrorist was able to flee.”

Suicide assault on Peshawar Imambargah

The interior minister also stated that officials had killed four more terrorists engaged in the Peshawar Imambargah suicide blast that claimed at least 57 lives earlier this month.
