On Saturday, a freight train derailed near Latifabad Unit No. 7 Hyderabad, resulting in a halt in up-country rail operations.
Zafar Zaman Ranjha, Pakistan Railways CEO, ordered a probe into the conduct of Grade-17 Assistant Engineer Manzoor and Grade-16 Permanent Works Inspector Shehzad. Both Manzoor and Shehzad were suspended for dereliction of duty.
Ranjha ordered the divisional superintendent to restart rail service and reassure passengers they will not encounter any difficulties.
The freight train derailed as it approached the Hyderabad railway station, however, no one was injured or killed in the event, according to railway officials.
There was a holdup at Kotri for trains travelling to Hyderabad.
It would take a few hours for the railroad’s personnel to get the bogies back on track, according to the railways’ officials.
