On Wednesday evening, terrorists belonging to the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army attacked security forces in Balochistan’s Panjgur and Noshki districts. Four soldiers embraced martyrdom while 15 terrorists were killed.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in a video statement released on Twitter said, “15 terrorists, including 9 in Noshki, 6 in Panjgur killed, while 4 personnel martyred during the attack”. The martyred personnel include a captain doctor of the Pakistan Army.
Both the attacks were successfully repulsed by the security forces, according to the military’s media wing. In a statement released on Wednesday night, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said “both attacks have been successfully repulsed while inflicting heavy casualties to terrorists”.
In the two separate attacks on the military camps, an intense exchange of fire was carried out, followed by blasts. The Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Noshki came under attack which resulted in 9 terrorists being killed. Earlier, an FC spokesperson had confirmed two blasts near the camps at Panjgur and Noshki.
In Panjgur, terrorists tried to infiltrate the military camp from two directions however the brave troops foiled their attempt through timely action that killed 6 militants belonging to the BLA.
According to the ISPR, the exact number of terrorist casualties is being ascertained while some militants have fled the scene. Currently, a search operation is going on to apprehend the remaining insurgents who are believed to be holding ground in Panjgur.
According to the Interior Minister, 4-5 terrorists are still holding ground in Panjgur and they have also been encircled by the security forces and will soon be neutralized.
In recent weeks, terrorists have ramped up attacks across the country. Last week, on the night of Jan 25-26, 10 soldiers were martyred as a security check post came under attack in Kech district of Balochistan.
On Jan 28, three Levies Force personnel were martyred in twin blasts in the Sui area of Dera Bugti that also killed Senator Sarfaraz Bugti’s son.
Two days after the attack, 17 people, including two policemen, were injured in a grenade attack in Dera Allahyar town of Jaffarabad district.
