PIA: Direct New Flights to Three Countries

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started direct flights to three countries: Australia, the Maldives, and Hong Kong.
Arshad Malik, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), stated that the national airline has sped up work on the scheduled direct flights to three nations. He also mentioned that PIA intends to resume flights to Istanbul and Bangkok.
The pertinent aviation authorities have been contacted, according to the PIA CEO, to resume flights to the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), and European countries.

According to Arshad Malik, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) alerted Pakistani authorities that an audit would be conducted. He also stated that flights to European countries will restart after they complete the audit.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) will perform an audit of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in February, opening the way for the national flag carrier to restart flight operations to the United Kingdom and Europe.

According to individuals familiar with the situation, the EASA has been in regular contact with PIA and will audit the airline in the coming month.

“EASA has given a thorough schedule in this regard,” they stated, adding that “following an audit of the Civil Aviation Authority by ICAO, EASA will revisit the actions adopted by the airline.”

According to the sources, the PIA flights could be cleared to operate in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe following the EASA assessment in February.

In response to the update, a PIA spokeswoman stated they would address the EASA’s concerns about safety, operations, and engineering. “We are prepared for any EASA audit,” the official said, adding that their flight safety index is now at an all-time high.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recently expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority’s safety measures (CAA). They have removed the PCAA from the list of safety-significant concerns because of the dissatisfaction with the safety measures (SSC).
