SWABI: The Swabi police have recovered a woman who was kept in chain by her family for three years in Manki village of Chota Lahor tehsil.
District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan told reporters today that the womanโs father, Mohammad Ayub and brothers Fazalullah and Saifullah have been arrested and booked under sections 354, 344, 506 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code for keeping in chain their female family member.
He said the woman had returned to her fatherโs home 12 years when she was divorced by her husband. Identity of woman who was chained is being kept confidential.
The DPO said the womanโs mother had passed away long ago, while her father married another woman. Frequent complaints of stepmother about the daughter of of Ayub influenced the family members to keep in chain and torture the female.

DSP of Chota Lahor tehsil Taj Mohammad, who recovered the woman, said she was chained in a room wherein she was unable to walk around.
He added that the woman was shabby and unkempt, while her room had no washroom where she was kept in chain.
The police learned about the woman on a tip-off from unidentified neighbours. They found the lady physically very weak and helped her to board police van.
The police said the woman would be produced before a local magistrate today (Saturday) to decide if she needed medical treatment or she should be sent to the Mardan Darul Aman.
