Fresh Weather System to Bring Rain and Snow Across Pakistan This Weekend
The Pakistan Meteorological Department indicates a major shift in weather patterns. It points to a fresh western disturbance that is expected to enter the country this Saturday evening. This will bring widespread rain and snowfall in different parts of the country until the 16th of March.
The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to gear up for a spell of rain in different parts of the country like Swat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also preparing for a fresh spell of snowfall. The parts of Balochistan like Ziarat and Chaman are also expected to remain cloudy with instances of thunderstorm. This is a brief halt in the march towards summer weather.
Proactive Safety Measures and Agricultural Alerts
As the system moves eastward, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Punjab has placed local administrations on high alert. Authorities have cautioned the public to remain indoors during active thunderstorms to mitigate the risk of lightning strikes. Furthermore, officials predict a noticeable drop in mercury, with temperatures in upper Punjab potentially falling by three to four degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, meteorologists are already monitoring another system of bad weather known as the second western disturbance. It is expectedย to hit late on March 17th.
In this regard, the government has advised that farmers take adequate precautions to ensure that their harvests are secure and irrigation is planned accordingly, in order to prevent damage. This is a clear indication of the need for people, particularly in hilly areas where landslides are common, to be on the lookout over the coming week
