Incident in Bajaur
BAJAUR: A 54-year-old policeman who was abducted on Thursday evening was found dead the next day in the War Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district, officials confirmed on Friday.
Abduction Details
Shah Munir Khan was on leave and traveling home to the Badan area with his family when unidentified armed men stopped his vehicle near Dama Dola. The attackers pulled him out of the car and took him away to an unknown place, where he was later shot and killed.
Police Statements
Bajaur district police spokesperson Israr Khan told Dawn that the incident happened Thursday evening. He also made it clear that reports claiming Munir was taken from the Badan police station were not true.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Niaz Muhammad later spoke to the media and said a police team, including senior officers, located and recovered the body.
Context of Attacks
This killing comes amid a string of attacks on law enforcement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past few weeks. Last week, unidentified terrorists opened fire on a police post in War Mamund, killing one officer. In February, four policemen died and two were injured when gunmen attacked a patrol party in Bajaur.
Investigation Status
No group has claimed responsibility for Shah Munir Khan’s abduction and murder so far. Police have started an investigation, but no arrests have been announced yet. The area remains tense, and security forces are on higher alert following these repeated incidents.
