Seven policemen died in a blast next to their vehicle in Bettani area of Lakki Marwat district on March 13, 2026. Police say the explosion happened right beside a police mobile.
Six Killed Instantly, One Died in Hospital
Six officers died on the spot. One other policeman was seriously hurt. He was taken to Insaafuddin Hospital immediately but could not be saved. He passed away during treatment.
Police Rush More Teams to Scene
Police sent extra teams to the location as soon as they got the news. They sealed the road, moved the injured and dead, and started searching for clues around the site.
Minister Condemns Attack, Honours Martyrs
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the blast very strongly. He said the martyred policemen sacrificed their lives for the country. He offered sincere condolences to the families and prayed for patience and courage for them.
Attacks from Across Border Increase
Terrorist attacks coming from Afghanistan have gone up a lot since the Taliban took power there in 2021. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan face most of these problems.
Pakistan started Operation Ghazab lil-Haq to respond. Forces carried out many strikes along the border and inside Afghanistan. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said these actions killed at least 641 Afghan Taliban fighters. More than 855 were injured. Security forces destroyed 243 checkposts, captured 42 militants and took out 219 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns.
Earlier Strikes and Clashes
Before this operation Pakistan bombed seven terrorist camps linked to Fitna al Khawarij, its allies and Daesh-Khorasan in Nangarhar, Paktika and Khost provinces. Security sources say more than 80 militants died in those air strikes.
In October 2025 Afghan Taliban and militants attacked Pakistani border posts without warning. Pakistani soldiers fought back. More than 200 attackers were killed. TwentyMetro Bus Operations Halted in Rawalpindi and Islamabad Due to Al-Quds Rally-three Pakistani soldiers were martyred.
Talks between the two countries happened many times but no agreement was reached. The Taliban government in Kabul has taken almost no steps against the terrorist groups using their land.
No group has claimed responsibility for the Bettani blast yet. Police are still investigating. Security is now very strict in the whole district.
