PESHAWAR: Security officials in Dera Ismail Khan have enforced Section 144. They aim to control rising threats and keep residents safe.
Daily Movement Restrictions The deputy commissioner, Abdul Nasir Khan, announced the order this Monday. It runs every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. During these hours, people cannot use passenger vehicles, cargo trucks, or motorcycles in the marked zones.
Closed Roads and Markets Security teams have shut several main routes. These include Dera-Tank Road from Tariq Shaheed Chowk to Bhugowal, Kulachi-Hathala Road, Kot Attal Road, and Garah Abdullah Road. Moreover, they blocked key link roads such as Tikwarah to Hathala, Pota Badh, Kanori to Garah Mohabbat, Chehkan village to Darbari, and Pota to Kot Isa Khan. In addition, Pota Hathala Bazaar stays closed all day during the restriction period.
Exemptions for Essential Services However, the ban does not apply to ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, or security personnel. Furthermore, if residents face a real emergency, they can ask police or security staff at checkpoints for quick permission to pass. Therefore, authorities urge everyone to carry valid ID and obey on-duty officers.
Purpose of the Measures The administration explains that these steps are only preventive. They want to stop trouble before it starts and maintain calm in a tense area. Similarly, officials imposed Section 144 earlier on February 28 for the same reason.
Link to Border Operations At the same time, Pakistani forces have increased actions along the western border. Recently, they struck militant sites in Afghanistanโs Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. Officials say these strikes answer repeated cross-border attacks. Consequently, the measures help protect national security and stabilise the frontier.
Advice for Residents Finally, local people should remain calm. They must cooperate with authorities and follow official updates. The administration watches the situation closely. Thus, it will relax or lift the restrictions as soon as safety allows. Community protection remains the main goal.
